Who are the
Strolling Strings?
Strolling Strings
is a group of string players entertaining an audience
through performing light classical and popular music while
strolling. It has been a phenomenon in school string
programs during the last ten years. The concept of
strolling string players has a long historical tradition.
The
fee for our services is a donation or honorarium to the
ensemble.

MISSION STATEMENT
The
“Strolling Strings” is an entertainment organization made up
of students from the music programs of Oscar Smith High
School. We provide students enhanced performance
opportunities that are not normally a part of the daily
orchestra program. This organization represents Oscar
Smith High School and the Chesapeake City Public Schools in
a manner which reflects the highest regard for
professionalism.
The
students will gain improved individual musicianship skills
and leadership qualities valuable to them and their own
school orchestra program. This is a result of the vast
variety of musical styles, rehearsal techniques and
increased performance arenas afforded the students.
Included are performance venues for civic organizations,
school functions, meetings of local and state government,
television appearances, religious functions and many more
events in the Community, as well as State appearances.
Because of the nature of these performances, students are
often afforded the opportunity to meet well-respected
leaders including high ranking government and public
officials both locally and worldwide.
